We are excited to officially welcome Warihana to the Give Basic Needs family as our Senior Grant Writer. As our organization continues to expand its impact across health, community development, and sustainable empowerment initiatives, strong grant strategy and storytelling are essential to ensuring that our mission reaches the right partners and funding opportunities. Warihana brings exactly that strength.
With a multidisciplinary background spanning technology, data, and social impact, Warihana holds a degree in Management Information Systems from Ashesi University, combining computer science and business administration, and an MSc in Data Science, Technology, and Innovation from the University of Edinburgh. This unique blend of technical and strategic expertise informs a systems-driven approach to problem-solving, program design, and impact measurement; skills that are increasingly vital in today’s competitive grant landscape.
Professionally, Warihana’s experience in software engineering and data science has opened opportunities to contribute to both small and large-scale grant applications. Her work has supported funding efforts for education, health-adjacent programs, and broader societal impact initiatives, translating complex technical, financial, and operational ideas into clear, compelling narratives that funders can understand and trust.
At the heart of Warihana’s work is a deep commitment to community empowerment. She is particularly passionate about women-led initiatives and underserved communities, with a strong focus on Northern Ghana. Her interest lies in supporting locally led solutions, sustainable systems, and pathways that reduce long-term dependency while building lasting resilience and opportunity, a philosophy that aligns seamlessly with the Give Basic Needs mission
Please join us in welcoming Warihana as we continue working toward our shared vision: Small Acts. Big Happy.
